SEVIER COUNTY, TN, September 10, 2018 — Sevier County School System (SCSS), located east of Knoxville, Tennessee, received from Cenergistic today the Energy Excellence Award for its outstanding performance within the first thirty-two (32) months of its Energy Conservation Program with Cenergistic, national energy conservation and sustainability company.
The Energy Excellence Award is given to clients who have reached a significant savings milestone and celebrates a solid, sustainable conservation program with the support and cooperation of administration, faculty and staff. Sevier County Schools has achieved a 20% costs savings totaling $2.15M since partnering with Cenergistic in 2015. This is the equivalent of removing 1,730 cars from the road for one year, or, planting 212,973 tree seedlings.
“Sevier County School System has done a wonderful job of implementing Cenergistic’s organizational behavior-based approach to energy conservation and maintaining productive efforts at all levels of the organization. The administration and all staff members are to be commended for clearly fulfilling their commitment to being good stewards of the organization’s energy dollars and the environment. Reaching this level of savings is a significant achievement of which to be very proud,” said Dr. William S. Spears, Chairman and Founder of Cenergistic. “I am extremely pleased to present Sevier County School System with our Energy Excellence Award, and thank the strong support from everyone involved in the organization which has created a culture of sustainability that should continue to grow and ensure even greater success well into the future,” Dr. Spears said.
SCSS personnel have worked closely with Cenergistic engineers, experts and embedded Energy Specialist, Keeton Shults, to audit and optimize each energy-using system throughout the district to peak efficiency. Mr. Shults tracks energy consumption — including electricity, water, sewer, natural gas and fuel oil — using the latest in energy-accounting software and technology to calculate savings and identify and correct areas that need immediate attention.
A primary benefit of the Cenergistic program is that all costs come out of the existing utility budget, with savings projected to more than pay for the program. Additional savings can be redirected to other budgetary needs within the district. The program additionally delivers an environmental benefit from a reduced carbon footprint and will help the district qualify for ENERGY STAR® certification with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
