HAMPTON, VA, October 3, 2018 — Hampton City Schools (HCS), located on the eastern coast of Virginia, received from Cenergistic today the Energy Excellence Award for its outstanding cost and energy savings since the inception of its Energy Conservation Program in 2013 with Cenergistic, national energy conservation and sustainability company.
The Energy Excellence Award is given to clients who have reached a significant savings milestone and celebrates a solid, sustainable conservation program with the support and cooperation of administration, faculty and staff. Hampton City Schools has achieved a 22% costs savings totaling over $4M since partnering with Cenergistic in 2013.
“Hampton City Schools has excelled with Cenergistic’s Energy Conservation Program. The entire administration and staff are to be commended for fulfilling their commitment to being good stewards of the environment and the district’s energy dollars. They have done a wonderful job of implementing organizational behavior-based approach to energy conservation and maintaining productive efforts at all levels of the organization,” said Dr. William S. Spears, Chairman and Founder of Cenergistic. “Reaching this level of savings is a significant achievement of which to be very proud.”
“It is my honor to present Hampton City Schools with our Energy Excellence Award, and thank the strong support from everyone involved in the organization which has created a culture of sustainability that should continue to grow and ensure even greater success well into the future,” Dr. Spears said.
HCS personnel have worked closely with Cenergistic engineers, experts and the embedded Energy Specialist to audit and optimize each energy-using system throughout the district to peak efficiency. The Cenergistic Energy Specialist tracks energy consumption — including electricity, water, sewer, natural gas and fuel oil — using the latest in energy-accounting software and technology to calculate savings and identify and correct areas that need immediate attention.
A primary benefit of the Cenergistic program is that all costs come out of the existing utility budget, with savings projected to more than pay for the program. Additional savings can be redirected to other budgetary needs within the district. The program additionally delivers an environmental benefit from a reduced carbon footprint and will help the district qualify for ENERGY STAR® certification with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
