DALLAS — Through combined efforts of the Product Engineering and Legal teams, Cenergistic announces the certification of its fourth United States patent, for “Building Automation and Control System Modeling and Reporting.”
This innovative process “is really about fault diagnostic with feedback loops,” said Jack Bullock, P.E., C.E.M., B.E.S.A., Cenergistic’s Executive Vice President and Chief Engineer. “I’ve created a method of how to use logic statements along with calculations to evaluate systems based on the data they’re giving you. This can tell you where faults are, or opportunities for optimization.”
Cenergistic’s three other U.S. patents include two that provide the methodology and foundation for Cenergistic Simulate®, which forecasts energy-saving scenarios for a specific building. The third, “interval analytics,” provides the basis for the Cenergistic GreenX® software, which analyzes smart meter data to determine opportunities for savings.
The lengthy patent process involves rigorous peer review from patent examiners and U.S. patent experts across the country, who make sure the invention is unique and documented correctly. In all four patents, the calculation methods were major factors in receiving certification. According to Bullock, this fourth patent supports the functionality of Cenergistic Predict®, which forecasts equipment lifecycles.
