Abilene Christian University Extends Cenergistic Energy Conservation Program Through 2022, Expects Continued Future Success and Savings

ABILENE, TX, August 28, 2018 — Abilene Christian University (ACU) is pleased to announce the renewal and expansion of Cenergistic’s Energy Conservation Program, expecting great continued future success in both utility cost savings and reduction in energy and utility usage. The program originally began in January 2014 and has thus resulted in 25% lower energy consumpton per square foot and 19,321 equivalent metric tons of CO2 not produced – the equivalent of $3.6M increase in funding for student achievement programs.

The partnership began with the goals of achieving increased stewardship through lower energy consumption, a university-wide shift to a strong culture of sustainability, more efficient facility operations, building and classroom comfort and ultimately utility cost savings to increase funding for student programs.

“With the amount of success we have seen in the past 4 years through our partnership with Cenergistic, I’m confident we will continue our strong track record of optimization and efficiency as it relates to our facilities,” said Senior Vice President of Operations, Kevin Campbell. “We’ve already seen an enormous amount of utility savings with our systems and equipment running as efficiently as possible through the expertise of our full-time Cenergistic Energy Specialist and engineers, working in tandem with our staff here at ACU.”

The program has a full-time onsite Energy Specialist to monitor and maintain energy efficiencies and policies. Through stringent building audits, expertise of highly-skilled engineers as well as the latest software in the hands of the onsite Cenergistic team, zoning issues, HVAC issues and faulty systems including reheat and lighting systems were quickly recognized and solved to run properly and efficiently. Cenergistic engineers and experts work closely with the embedded Energy Specialist and other ACU personnel to continually audit and optimize each energy-using system throughout the university.

ACU is proud to share that significant energy costs have been saved, positively impacting faculty, staff and most importantly, students, allowing them the comfort they need in classrooms to reach their fullest potential. It has also instilled a culture of sustainability within the university and put millions back into student achievement programs.

“We have successfully been able to utilize the cost savings found through implementation of Cenergistic’s Energy Conservation program and place that funding back into critical achievement programs for student success,” said ACU President, Dr. Phil Schubert. “I’m excited about what the future holds and look forward to continued success and savings. Working with a company like Cenergistic has dramatically reduced our energy consumption and become critical to the financial success of our university.”
