PASADENA, TX, February 26, 2019 — Pasadena Independent School District (PISD), located in southeast Houston, has announced its partnership with Cenergistic, leading nationwide conservation firm, to implement their Sustainability Program with the goals of reducing energy consumption and achieving significant cost savings across all district buildings. PISD serves 54,000 students on 65 campuses, employs 7,650 staff, and is estimated to save $8.4M on energy and utility spend over the next five years.
Prior to partnering with Cenergistic, PISD was managing an internal energy efficiency program with an in-house energy manager, however, the district COO and Director of Facilities desired to augment conservation efforts with additional manpower and software tools to most effectively optimize buildings and attain more substantial energy and cost savings.
PISD’s key drivers in implementing Cenergistic’s Sustainability Program are to accelerate preventative maintenance projects and ensure buildings are running as efficiently as possible as state funding decreases their operating budget. PISD realized the value of the holistic Cenergistic solution as they learned it would offer their district four full-time, onsite energy specialists equipped with Cenergistic’s Ceres™ software platform, which offers real-time interval data for immediate triage and resolution of equipment anomalies, and the support of Cenergistic’s Center of Excellence (COE) comprised of engineers and subject matter experts in areas such as HVAC, M&V (Measurement and Verification) irrigation, humidity management (which is a special need for PISD), and more.
The PISD procurement process involved an RFP with nine respondents including nationwide competitors, however, the district COO, Director of Facilities and administration saw the most value with the Cenergistic Sustainability Program. The program began on February 1, 2019, as energy specialists arrived to work with PISD’s Facilities Team and begin implementation.
