Alpine School District: Utility Savings Can Fund Financial Emergencies
As the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted K-12 learning and budgets nationwide, most districts had to make tough decisions to provide the best education possible to all students with increasingly limited resources. Alpine School District in American Fork, UT is no different from any other district in its commitment to providing first-class education to all students.
Supporting this objective, the energy conservation practices of their Cenergistic partnership and reduced onsite learning during COVID-related shutdowns combined to create $2 million in savings compared to expected utility costs over the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Those savings were used to meet a shortfall in salary funding, preventing layoffs that would have further disrupted the student learning environment.
