DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. — To honor a 32-percent reduction in utility spending and a long-term commitment to energy reduction, Cenergistic, a nationwide sustainability company, presented Walton County School District (WCSD) with its esteemed Chairman’s Sustainability Award.
The Chairman’s Sustainability Award honors WCSD’s long-term energy program. With a successful program going on its tenth year and significant savings, WCSD has demonstrated leadership in sustainability.
“Cenergistic got us started on an energy conservation program, and the savings we made through this conservation have been redirected to boost student achievement,” said Russell Hughes, WCSD Superintendent. “We plan to further the savings of this program over the years to come.”
To find savings, district personnel follow processes learned from Cenergistic engineers and experts to audit and optimize energy-using systems across the organization for peak efficiency.
