NEW ROCHELLE, NY, March 6, 2019 — Iona College, located 20 miles north of Manhattan, has announced its partnership with Cenergistic, leading nationwide conservation firm, to implement their Sustainability Program with the goals of reducing energy consumption and achieving significant cost savings. Iona College expects to see total gross savings of $2.64M over the five-year contract.
Iona currently has an active Sustainability Committee; however, its focus is centered around promoting green efforts and embedding a culture of conservation throughout the campus rather than optimization of equipment or energy-usage analysis for the purposes of facility improvement, energy savings or cost savings. College leadership seeks to enhance sustainability efforts with additional manpower and advanced software to optimize campus buildings and achieve substantial energy and cost savings.
Iona’s key driver in implementing Cenergistic’s Sustainability Program is to mitigate forecasted budget constraints that would result in department cuts over the coming years. By finding energy and cost savings through a partnership with Cenergistic, Iona will save utility budget dollars so the College can sustain all departments and student programs. Included in the program is one full-time, onsite energy specialist equipped with Cenergistic’s Ceres™ software platform, which offers real-time interval data for immediate triage and resolution of equipment anomalies, and the support of Cenergistic’s Center of Excellence (COE) comprised of engineers and subject matter experts in areas such as HVAC, M&V (Measurement and Verification), irrigation and more. Cenergistic’s specialists will work alongside Iona’s facilities team to ensure peak efficiency of all energy-using equipment across every campus building.
Iona College’s senior leadership team, including Senior Vice President Anne-Marie Schettini-Lynch, Head of Facilities Richard Murray and President Dr. Joseph Nyre, remains highly engaged with Cenergistic’s primary team and is very enthusiastic about the improved comfort, energy savings, cost savings and enhancing the current mindset of sustainability among the College that Cenergistic will bring. The program began on March 1, 2019, as energy specialists arrived to work with Iona’s Facilities Team and begin program implementation.
