(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) – In recognition of its successful energy conservation program, Cenergistic awarded Birmingham City Schools (BCS) with the Energy Excellence Award in light of a 30 percent decrease in energy consumption.
The Energy Excellence award is given to clients who have reached noteworthy financial savings from an energy program. In the case of BCS, the program has created a significant environmental impact as well. The energy consumption avoided equates to the average car not driving 36 million miles.
“The success of this program has been a testament to the hard work of the entire organization,” said Dr. Lisa Herring, BCS Superintendent. “Reaching this level of savings allows us to focus more resources on what matters most — student success.”
To find savings, BCS personnel work closely with Cenergistic engineers, experts and the Energy Specialist to audit and optimize energy-using systems across the organization to achieve peak efficiency. The Energy Specialist tracks energy consumption at all campuses through state-of-the-art smart technology to identify and correct areas that need immediate attention.
