Birdville ISD Receives Energy Excellence Award

FORT WORTH, Texas — Birdville ISD recently received the Energy Excellence Award from Cenergistic, a nationwide sustainability company. Cenergistic presents this award to clients who have reached noteworthy savings from an energy program. Since 2016, BISD has recognized energy savings of more than $2 million over four and one-half years. The energy savings is equal to preventing carbon emissions equivalent to 36 million miles of automobile travel.

“Birdville ISD made a commitment to lower energy use, and in the process saved a significant amount of money, while keeping facilities safe for in-person learning,” said Doug Bilyeu, Regional Vice President at Cenergistic. “This program is positioned for further savings as the program continues.”

BISD personnel work closely with Cenergistic engineers, experts, and energy specialists to audit and optimize energy-using systems across the District to achieve healthier, more efficient buildings. The energy specialists track energy consumption at all campuses with state-of-the-art technology to identify waste and protect occupants.

In response to COVID-related shutdowns, the energy specialists used hundreds of facility audits to improve air quality and support facilities operations to ensure students return to classes safely.

“Cenergistic has assisted our transition back to face-to-face learning and that alone has proved invaluable,” said Katie Bowman, BISD Associate Superintendent for Finance and Auxiliary Services. “The dollar savings on top of the service and support provided by Cenergistic have proven this partnership a shrewd investment for BISD.”
