BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — To distinguish substantial utility savings of 20 percent, Bartlesville Public Schools (BPS) received the Energy Stewardship Award from Cenergistic, an energy conservation company. The Energy Stewardship Award recognizes the impact an organization has had on the environment.
“Reaching this level of savings so quickly shows the strength of the commitment Bartlesville has made to saving taxpayer money and reducing district impact on the environment,” said Doug Bilyeu, Regional Vice President at Cenergistic as he presented the award. “This award recognizes that commitment and the impact it’s already had.”
Just one year into their partnership, BPS has significantly reduced its carbon footprint in the initial stages of the partnership. The energy reductions from the program equate to avoiding the carbon emissions produced by the average car driving approximately 3.6 million miles or the energy use of 250 houses in a year.
“We’ve gotten results early, and that’s in large part to the work the facilities team and the Energy Specialist have put in,” said David Boggs, BPS Chief Financial Officer. “As the program matures, we’re hoping to recognize further savings and build a culture of sustainability throughout BPS for years to come.”
