Pasadena ISD: Transforming Energy Efficiency for Better Learning Environments
December 4, 2024
Pasadena ISD, one of the largest school districts in Texas, was faced with aging infrastructure and a vast number of buildings to manage. Given the size of the district, a methodical and scalable solution was needed to assess and optimize each building’s Building Automation System (BAS).
The Problem: Pasadena ISD has over 50,000 students and 67 campuses, and faced rising energy costs and inconsistent comfort due to an underperforming BAS. Aging infrastructure and system inefficiencies hindered optimal building performance.
The Challenge: Managing such a vast district required a scalable, systematic approach to evaluate and optimize each building’s BAS, ensuring peak efficiency and improved comfort for students and staff.
The Solution: Through a phased retro-commissioning program, Cenergistic conducted in-depth BAS evaluations and introduced optimizations to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort. This collaborative effort delivered significant utility savings, enabling reinvestment in classroom resources, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term operational improvements.
The results included significant long-term savings, reinvestment into classrooms and infrastructure, and better learning environments. “Working with Cenergistic has been a game-changer for our district,” said Kevin Fornof, Associate Superintendent of Facilities & Construction.
